BASIC - The Conquering Insomnia Program

9

The Conquering Insomnia program replicates the CBT-I program developed and tested at Harvard Medical School and the University of Massachusetts Medical Center by Dr. Gregg D. Jacobs in his work with over 10,000 insomnia patients over the past 25 years.

In a study conducted by Dr. Jacobs at Harvard Medical School that was funded by the National Institutes of Health and published in the Archives of Internal Medicine, this CBT-I program was more effective than Ambien.

The Conquering Insomnia program is a PDF (Adobe Reader) based treatment program that is designed as if you are a patient going through the 5-session, 5-week CBT-I program developed and tested at Harvard Medical School.

The 5 sessions in the Conquering Insomnia program are organized over a 5-week period as follows:

  • Session 1:
Basic facts about sleep; Conducting your own insomnia assessment
  • Session 2:
Sleep scheduling and stimulus control techniques
  • Session 3:
Cognitive restructuring techniques; Sleep medication tapering techniques
  • Session 4:
Daytime relaxation techniques; Developing stress-reducing, sleep-enhancing attitudes and beliefs
  • Session 5:
Bedtime relaxation techniques; Lifestyle habits that affect sleep

The Conquering Insomnia PDF program is also interactive because you can complete a sleep diary each week of the program, e-mail it, and receive interactive, individualized CBT-I guidelines based on your sleep diary.

The Conquering Insomnia PDF program also includes:

  • Weekly summaries of goals and tips for meeting these goals
  • A library of over 100 insomnia focus articles, study reviews, blogs, and sleep tips.

BASIC – The Conquering Insomnia PDF program is now available for $44.95.

PLUS - PDF PROGRAM AND RELAXATION TECHNIQUES MP3 COMBO

Individuals who suffer from insomnia experience excessive mental activity in bed that is often described as racing thoughts. Relaxation techniques improve the ability to fall asleep by reducing excessive mental activity in bed and by facilitating the brain wave patterns that occur during the transition from wakefulness to sleep. A study published in the Archives of Internal Medicine that was conducted by Dr. Jacobs and funded by the National Institutes of Health demonstrated that a 20-minute guided muscle relaxation, breathing, and imagery technique was a key component of a CBT-I intervention that was more effective than Ambien for insomnia. And in a study published in Applied Psychophysiology and Biofeedback, Dr. Jacobs demonstrated that these same relaxation techniques produced significant reductions mental activity and produced the brain wave patterns that occur during the transition from waking to sleep.

The same relaxation techniques for improving sleep are available in MP3 format (simple download instructions included) in combination with Conquering Insomnia PDF program for a package price of $49.95.

PREMIUM - PDF PROGRAM, RELAXATION TECHNIQUES MP3, AND EMAIL QA COMBO

Email QA allows you to email Dr. Jacobs with general questions pertaining to sleep, insomnia, or CBT-I techniques. Dr. Jacobs will respond to your questions within two business days. Questions can involve more than one e-mail exchange with Dr. Jacobs (e.g., he will respond to follow-up questions) but his responses are limited to a total of 250 words. Questions cannot be submitted more than once per week and cannot contain a history.

Email QA is available in a 3-part combination package with the Conquering Insomnia PDF program and the Relaxation Techniques for Improving Sleep MP3 for a package price of $59.95.

60 Minute MP3 Program

MP3 Program

6The Conquering Insomnia program is also available in MP3 format for $39.95 that can be saved to computer and burned to a CD (simple download instructions included).

Please note that this product is not available in combination with any other products.

This 60 minute MP3 describes the CBT-I program that was developed and tested at Harvard Medical School and the University of Massachusetts Medical Center by Dr. Gregg D. Jacobs in his work with thousands of insomnia patients over the past 25 years. In a study conducted at Harvard Medical School by Dr. Jacobs that was funded by the National Institutes of Health and published in the Archives of Internal Medicine, the CBT-I program described on this MP3 was more effective than Ambien.

The 5 sessions in the Conquering Insomnia MP3-based program are organized over a 5-week period as follows:

  • Session 1: Basic facts about sleep; Conducting your own insomnia assessment
  • Session 2: Sleep scheduling and stimulus control techniques
  • Session 3: Cognitive restructuring techniques
  • Session 4: Daytime relaxation techniques
  • Session 5: Bedtime relaxation techniques; Lifestyle habits that improve sleep

Click here for a sample of the MP3-based program.

This program is designed to be a sequential 5-week program (e.g., you begin with session 1, and then proceed to session 2, and so on through session 5 over a 5 week period). Although you should spend a week on each session before you move on to the next session, the program can be completed at your own pace.

Unlike the Conquering Insomnia PDF-based interactive program, the 60 minute Conquering Insomnia MP3-based program also contains a 10 minute guided relaxation techniques for improving sleep track as well as an introduction to the program by Dr. Jacobs (7 tracks total).

However, the MP3-based program is not interactive (it does not include weekly feedback on a sleep diary) like the PDF-based program, and the MP3-based program does not include a library of insomnia focus articles and study reviews like the PDF-based program.

The Conquering Insomnia Program  is now available in MP3 format for $39.95.
